An End to the Voyage
A LETTER FROM LONGSHIP BREWERY OWNER AND VIKING ENTHUSIAST DAN JACHIMOWICZ:
To all of our friends and supporters,
It is with great reluctance and a heavy heart that I announce that Longship Brewery will be
closing. While we would like nothing more than to push though, we have lost the wind in our sails, and
must end our adventure. This past year has been a trying time for us all, and we’ve come to the
realization that this is no longer a storm we can weather. This was not an easy decision to make, but in
the end, it is the necessary one.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been part of this journey with us. To
our regulars over the years, thank you for your support, your friendship, and kind words. I will miss
talking with you all and seeing you enjoy the fruits of our labor. I want to thank everyone out there who
gave our beers a chance, including all of the bars and restaurants that have carried our beers over the
years.
I especially want to thank my family who has been supportive of this venture since Longship
Brewery was just a nameless concept. I couldn’t have gotten this far without your love and support to
keep me focused. To my wife, Lauren, I love you and thank you for everything that you have sacrificed to
make this dream happen. Longship would not have been anything close to what it is without your
unwavering support, brilliant ideas, and patience.
I would also like to thank the horde of friends that have also put in their blood, sweat, and tears
to help and been with me throughout the development and life of Longship. You stepped up when I
needed help and I look forward to continuing our friendship for many years to come. Thank you from
the bottom of my heart.
Thank you to all of our food vendor partners that have stuck with us through the slow days. I
thank you for your friendship and for growing with us as we developed. I also want to thank the various
charities that have allowed us the privilege of furthering your cause, particularly the Global Conservation
Force for your great partnership and the inspiration for a great beer. Thank you for all of the great work
that you do.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who had been part of the Longship crew. For better or
worse, you helped Longship and myself grow. I especially want to thank Chuck who has been with me
since before we opened. Thank you for always busting your ass and sticking with me through the thick
and thin as we navigated these waters. I know that I have not always been the best leader, and I thank
you for setting me straight when I needed it. Thank you all.
We will be open for the next few weeks as we settle into our final port and disembark on April
30th. I thank you all again for helping this dream come true. As this chapter closes for us, then next one
begins. Longship Brewery may be closing, but we will continue to voyage on to the next adventure.
And before you ask, no, Falkor is not for sale.
Sincerely,
Dan Jachimowicz
